Dear Tim & Hartley,
Do you have any perception prodigy or carolina 12' or 14' used for sale? Do you have much of a market for Daggar white water kayak's - not trick boats just plain white water? Thanks
Clare Buchanan
Camden, SC

Dear Clare Buchanan:
Hi Clare, 1.At the moment, we do not have a Prodigy or a Carolina in the shop. However, we'll certainly try to locate one for you, if you wish! 2. Yes, we do have a market for Dagger whitewater boats. We have a Showdown for sale, $300, in the shop at the moment, and we would be happy to help your whitewater boat find another home, if you wish!

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Hey, im trying to see if you guys carry any climbing shoes. Thanks!
Joe
Columbia, SC

Dear Joe:
Joe, the answer to your question is yes. GYGO has and is able to get climbing shoes. At this moment the only shoes GYGO has in stock are the consignment shoes. Consignment shoes are MadRock, Boreal, and 5.10. GYGO sometimes has other brands too. As for new shoes, GYGO has had the CaVa and Evolv shoes. The Evolv shoes are from the Metolius sales rep. The CaVa shoes are from one of the shop's wholesale catalogs. Joe, what size are you looking for? Thanks, Tim

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Dear Tim and Hartley, I recently paddled a very difficult river and became scared. After the trip I noticed a large brown stain on my seat. No matter what I do I cannot get the stain to come out or for the odor to go away. Please help.

Dear Steve:
Steve, you must had been over your head. What is the make and model of your kayak. GYGO may be able to order you a new seat. GYGO will try to make it a nominal price too.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Hi guys I'm looking for a 230 crystal X H2O touring paddle do you have one I could take a look at?
Pete
Atlanta Ga

Dear Pete:
Pete, GYGO has several Crystal paddles in stock but were sold out of the 230cm lenght. What color are you looking for? Were expecting a few H2o paddles to arrive soon. At the moment not sure if any are the 230cm length or color you are looking for. GYGO can always special order a paddle. It's no big deal to do so. Actually, it's just a phone call away. But GYGO does have a few Crystal paddles in stock just not 230cm at this time.

Dear Tim & Hartley,

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Hi to Tim & Hartley, I am looking for a swiss made point 65 martini kayak..Sit inside.I was told to contact y'all First.. What is y'alls take on this craft ? If you have one on hand, I may head your way on the 17th or 18th of this month.. Please advise..
wc
ayden , n.c.

Dear wc:
Ayden, thanks for asking. Get Your Gear On has a Martini by Point 65. They are nice kayaks. The modular design isn't the best for rocky swiftwater areas. The seam catches on rocks. But in sandy rivers and in open water areas it's awesome. The rudder works well and there is plenty of storage built into the kayak. if you would like to test paddle the kayak give us a call to set an oppointment. Thanks, Tim.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
As of June 2006 no one can use the golf center on Broad River to take out if paddling past Harbison Forest take out - so where does one take out now? I know there is supposedly a place called Richland County River Center at I-20????? Do you guys know where this is? other than it's off of I-20.... thanks, Gayle
gayle
columbia, sc

Dear gayle:
Gayle, If by the Golf Center take out you are referring to what is now the USC crew club, you can take out there when it is open but it is not always open. We did have the contact for them around here somewhere but now we can't seem to find it. As far as another takeout other than that closer to I-20 we currently do not know of it. A person of contact that would have contact info for the USC crew club and know more possibly about a take out closer to I-20 would be Stuart Greeter the Congaree River Keeper. His contact information is Stuart@congareeriverkeeper.org. Hope this information helps you.

Dear Tim & Hartley,

Dear Tim & Hartley,
I'm looking for a kayak that I could use on the Saluda in Class I-III rapids (that's what I heard I would encounter putting in at the zoo). I don't necessarily want a whitewater kayak, maybe just something 9-10 feet. In your opinion, would that work? Do you have anything currently in stock?
Marie
COLUMBIA

Dear Marie:
Hi Marie, Great question! A white water boat would be the best boat of choice and we have plenty of them. However getting a white water boat intails then getting a skirt and learning how to do a kayak roll. You could however also use a a sit on top kayak or a recreational sit inside or even a shorter touring boat. The key for what you are looking to do is still having something that you can easily manuaver while in the rapids. The advantage of a sit on top kayak would be that if you flip it over in the middle of the river or whatever body of water you seems to paddling on it is easy enough to flip it right side up and climb back on top and all the water will drain of the top. This is oppose to a sit inside that if you were to flip it over with out a skirt, wich most recreational kayaks are not intended to be paddled with, it will fill up with water and you will have to swim with it to the edge of the body of water get empty all the water out and then get back in the boat and get back on the water. Now as far as shorter touring kayaks go they are going to a faster boat and generally at their shortest be 12-14ft. in length. Touring boats are designed to be able to wear a skirt with but also can be paddled without. If wearing a skirt with any kayak it is best to know how to roll the kayak. We have all of these types of kayaks in stock except for recreational sit inside kayaks. We don't see very many of them compaired to how often we see white water kayaks. We hope that all of this information has helped you better understand what might be the best option for you is as far as a boat is concerned. We highly recommend demoing a boat before buying it. We offer a $30 demo fee and then if you buy that boat we take the $30 right off the top. If you are ever in the area stop by and say hi and see what kinds of used & new boats we have in stock. Thanks, GYGO Crew

Dear Tim & Hartley,
looking for a H2o-2 whitewater paddle. 197cm, 30 degree, right hand grip. Do you have one in stock? Thanks, tr

Dear Tony:
We do have an H20-2 White water paddle 197 30 degree offset in stock it is priced at $339.00. Feel free to come in and take a look at it or call with any more questions. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks, GYGO Crew

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Hi TIm & Hartley, I love your website! I am a former marketing rep for Merrell footwear and used to call on outfitters like you all in a 6 state territory. I now live and work on Lake Murray selling real estate. Different ball game but the people are what it's all about! I have a huge passion for Lake Murray and the outdoors. I noticed your kayak tours. I am all about supporting local businesses and thought it might be beneficial to get together for coffee or lunch sometime so we could chat about helping you get more kayak tours on the lake. I think the Group On will be a huge hit! I am also a Lake Murray Chamber ambassador and would love to invite you all to an event. Please keep in touch and let's get together! Your company rocks! Laura- www.lakemurraylaura.com
Laura Reid
Lake Murray SC

Dear Laura Reid:
HEY LAURA! Thanks, for your support and the kind words. The Lake Murray Trips are a hit so far, and we love paddleing in the sunset on such a beautiful lake. We are surrounded by all these wonderful resources available to all levels of outdoor enthusiests. It's really difficult to think about the stresses of the grind when paddeling in such a setting. Please, do... stay in touch! We'd love to talk. Hartley

Dear Tim & Hartley,
we are interested in kayaking. we need singles that can hold a large person 250 lbs and wide on the bottom. we are beginners and will boat on lakes and small rivers. what would you recommend. also, are the fishing kayacs real stable? we like to fish and that might be a consideration too. thank you
sa carter
columbia sc

Dear sa carter:
Hi sa carter, We would probably recommend a boat like the Feel Free Moken 10. This boat is a very stable boat that comes in the regular version with two rod holders already on it, and places to add two more. In the angler version it comes with all four rod holders already installed as well as a hard hatch on the front instead of the standard mesh cover for the front hatch. Another advantage to the Feel Free line of boats is that they come stock with a wheel in the keel so that you can move them around more easily with just one person. The boat is 35" wide and has a very aggressive tri-hull design that combined create a very stable boat that just about anyone can stand up in and paddle or cast as well. Now due to the fact that the boat is so wide and only 10'3" long it isn't the fastest boat on the market but in order to get the awesome stability you are going to compromise some speed no matter what anyone says. The Feel Free Moken retails for $649.00 and we usually have at least one in stock. They have been selling like hotcakes lately so let us know if you are interested in one. We also highly recommend demoing a boat before you buy it, this only cost $30.00 and goes towards the purchase price of the boat if you decide to buy that boat. Here is a link to that specific boat on Feel Free's website http://www.feelfreekayak.com/products/moken10/. I will note that as far as specific colors go we would have to call the warehouse in Asheville and check to see what colors they have that boat in. It only takes a couple days for us to go up and get the boat if we don't have the color in stock that you want. Thanks, Tim, Hartley and Rob

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Hi, just purchased a pair of used Necky kayaks, good shape, about 8-9 feet long, paid 200 each, is that too much? I also need skirts for them and a drain plug, you carry that? thanks, terry
terry

Dear terry:
Terry, good prices for sure. Yes, Get Your Gear On may just have your skirt and other accessories. If you need any lessons or want to tag on a GYGO river/lake trip give us a call. Thanks, Tim

Dear Tim & Hartley,
I am looking for a used bent shaft whitewater paddle for a recently purchased (used) Pyranha Fusion Connect 30. Do you have something in store that you recommend? Is there a boat that you could recommend for paddling small lakes with dogs? The folks at River Runners recommended an ultimate 14.5. Finally, do you recommend adding flotation bags to the pyranha? The friend who sold me the boat does but I am not sure of the application. Thanks! I am going to try and stop by your store Saturday.
Laura
Columbia, SC

Dear Laura:
Laura, thanks for stopping by. Nice boat. As for paddling with K9s', what size is the beast. Daisy, my golden, needs a canoe or something with a large opening. But I have heard stories of eskimos putting four or five dogs in there kayaks. Then paddling for miles in open ocean to the next residence. Stuff I read. Oh, the bent shaft and flotation. Yes, GYGO has used bent shaft paddles. They change often. There are two ATs in stock now that fit your needs but different sizes. Flotation, use it. Your friends will like you so much more when your boat decides to fill with water again. GYGO can help in the installation. Thanks, Tim

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Someone on the Palmetto Paddlers website suggested I contact you. I'm looking for info for a planned trip down the Wateree or Congaree. We are from Alabama and are looking for a multi-day (2-3 day trip) down either river. Accomplished paddlers. Suggested launch/take out points, camping sites/rules, access to CNP and adjacent hiking trails, canoe rentals in area, best times to paddle (avoiding insects, etc). Any info appreciated.
Tom
Athens. AL

Dear Tom:
Tom, this is Tim from Get Your Gear On. I was reading some older e-mails and saw your question from GYGO's website. You asked about the two blue trails we have here in and near Columbia, SC. The Congaree and Wateree rivers. Did you do your trip? Which river? I have paddled both. The Wateree once. Put in at Wateree dam and floated to Low Falls landing. That was about one hundred miles. The Congaree I've done many times. It's a favorite because it local, fifty miles and is a real wilderness experience. On both rivers you will or may encounter motor boaters. I've never had any problems with people on these rivers. Everyone is nice. They would give you a beer if you asked and sell you a bunch if you bought them. If you have any questions about local Columbia rivers or creeks Tom give us a call or and e-mail. Thanks, Tim

Dear Tim & Hartley,
I am looking for a dagger rpm. do you guys have any of those in stock?
MATT
COLUMBIA

Dear MATT:
Matt, were out of stock on RPMs at the moment. We've sold them from $275 and up. When one comes in we'll let your know. Thanks, Tim

Dear Tim & Hartley,
hey guys, I came by last week inquiring about a kayak. The Feelfree kayaks you guys recommended definitely got my attention. I was interested in the nomad. Wondering if you have it in stock to demo? Thanks, Hubert
Hubert
columbia sc

Dear Hubert:
Hubert, thanks for asking about the Nomad. Get Your Gear On has two used Nomad kayak in stock. They are GYGO rental boats so they sell at a used price. They are still fairly new so prices very. Paddles aren't normally included but the seat is, thanks, Tim

Dear Tim & Hartley,
I use to kayak frequently but it's been four years since I have been in one. I always used the kayaks where I worked so I don't know what I should be looking for. I want to buy some used gear to get started again. I plan to stay mostly on flat water. I am about 285 pounds and 5'4" tall. What would you recommend for me?
Brittney
Rock Hill, SC

Dear Brittney:
We would probably reccomend a sit on top kayak, recreational kayak, or a touring/sea kayak. We have some of the sit on top kayaks we used for our river trips that we are looking to upgrade. So we have a couple nice used sit on tops for sale. Feel free to stop by and take a look. Call before hand because those boats aren't always here at the shop. Thanks, GYGO Crew

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Do you have the Dry Case ($39.99) in stock? Ann
Ann
SC

Dear Ann:
Ann, Just wanted to let you know we now have the Dry Case ($39.99) in stock. Sorry for the long delay in getting them in. They were having some issues and were back ordered from our supplier for the longest time. Hope this helps. Thanks, Tim, Rob, Hartley

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Tim, does anyone sell a set of wheels that attaches to a kayak so that you can transport the boat from your car to a river easily without having to carry your kayak on your shoulder? The wheels would have to be able to stay attached to your kayak while you were on the river.
Fred McGrew
Columbia SC

Dear Fred McGrew:
They do make wheels that attach to a kayak to transport the boat from car to river or when you do a portage around a certain spot on a river however this portage carts are meant to be taken off when you go to put the boat in the water and then put back on when you take the boat out of the water. But to take it a step further, a kayak company called Feel Free actualy has built a wheel into the stern of most of the sit-on-top kayaks.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Do y'all rent stand up paddleboards? And if you don't do you know anyone around Columbia that does? Thanks
Stu
Columbia, SC

Dear Stu:
Stu, at this moment GYGO doesn't have the room to store more rental gear. There are SUP manufactures that would like to sell their product to GYGO. GYGO hasn't gone SUP yet, but I do like the paddles. I think the SUP paddles would work great while standing in a canoe.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Great site! My girlfriend and I paddle whenever we get a chance, and have often wished that there was a shuttle service to take us to our put in spot, which can be as far upriver as Saluda Shoals, "the radio station" landing, or down as the zoo. Kind of a pain fetching the other vehicle after a paddle (especially from the zoo where the traffic and partying is hard to work around), and we'd be willing to pay to work around the hassle. Is there such a service, a kind of "yak taxi"? Thanks!
kayak shuttles
Columbia, SC

Dear kayak shuttles:
Hey, that's a popular question. And, yes we do help in river shuttle services. GYGO has taken people all over Columbia for shuttle. GYGO has also taken and picked people and gear up at Peak, Harbison SF, and Hwy 601 on the Congaree river. Call for pricing.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
I bought a Dagger Response from your store in May of this year. When I bought it, it was labeled a creekboat and I was told it would be a good boat to take out with the Palmetto Paddlers. I haven't had much time to take it out, but I did take it out on Gibson Pond this summer. When I took it out, it spun in circles most of the time and was difficult to maneuver. I would like to take it out more often, but I'm afraid I'll wind up spinning in circles somewhere and expending all my energy quickly. Is there something wrong with my kayak or is there something I should know about maneuvering it?
Angela Phipps
Columbia, SC

Dear Angela Phipps:
The Dagger Response is realy an old school, long boat, which could be used as a race / creeker, or a down river kayak. It's design is similar to the Crossfire. All whitewater kayaks are designed to turn, roll, adjust, and withstand some impact. They are not designed to "track" a steady line in flat water the way a kayak with a keel, or a recreational kayak, touring boat might. So, your experience with the Response in flatwater is natural and just a matter of boat controll. It's practice, fun, practice, fun, and should be relatively easy to achieve the type of manuverability that you seek. Along with the purchase of your kayak, you are entitled to a free lesson, and envited to join us on any regularly scheduled local river trip. Our guides are quite helpful and fun to work with. Tim is also heavily involved with Palmetto Paddlers, so you can contact him through the store, or your paddling group. Let us help you enjoy your boat, so that you can enjoy the local S.C. waterways! Hartley

Dear Tim & Hartley,
My 12 year old is very interested in kayaking. He has spent part of the last 4 summers at camp where he has learned about them. This year he has become proficient at rolling. His counselor has encouraged us to allow him to continue. I would like to get him a used kayak to see if his interest continues. He has been using a 1.5 Jackson at camp. I would need the helmet, paddle, also. Wher do I begin?
LeGrand Cooper
Columbia South Carolina

Dear LeGrand Cooper:
Great! Sounds as though your son has had fantastic summer experiences and is ready to build on those skills. It's wonderful that he's already got his roll, and it sounds like he has the nurtured confidence to continue. ...Exciting! Where to begin? We have several affordably consigned kayaks that could serve him well, here in the shop. They range from longer round hulled boats (like what I started in), to shorter (more contemporary) agressive play boats, and some river running kayaks inbetween. My suggestion would be for you guys to come on down to the shop and see what fits his needs best. We also have all the required gear. You are absolutly correct about needing a helmet (we cary WRSI, the most affordable and safest helmet on the market) and other gear. We have paddles, skirts and PFDs to choose from, and can order anything you might want that isn't in stock. We are here to help you get excited about exploring the outdoors (in a cost effective manner) and kicking it up to the next step, with quality, saftey, and affordability in mind.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Could you send me an e-mail when our ropes come in. Tim said he would leave a note for you about them, did he?
Sam
Lexignton

Dear Sam:
Hi, Sam! Your Ropes are in! 2 dynamic 50 meter climbing ropes, correct?

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Hi,I came in your store today(6/11)and was interested in river kayak tours, We are beginners and I was wondering which tour would be best for some one who has only been on a kayak a few times in a lake? I really want to start in the right tour so my daughter and I can get the most from the experience. Thanks
Teri
Lexoington,sc

Dear Teri :
It all depends if y'all want easy going flatwater or whitewater thrills. If your looking for a easy and no frills trip the Congaree or upper Saluda river would be your best trip. If you would like camaraderie with whiteater thrills the lower Saluda would be your best trip.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Hi Tim & Hartley, can you tell me how I become a pro kayaker?
Ken
columbia,sc

Dear Ken:
How does one become a Pro-Boater? Lots of time and tallent for the sport of course. Also, it's not what you know but who you know that gets one's name on the roster. Participate in as many kayak races as possible and place in the top 3 postions often. The Corporate idea is the representaion the company gets from your efforts. If you look good in a event then they look good too. Thats my two cents, Tim. Well, Ken, the other (more important) part of becoming a PRO Boater, as Tim stated, Is to look GOOD. My personal take on Tim's suggestion is much more aesthetically acute. IT's all about that... the IT factor... Ken, you have to have IT ... you have to command IT, like the Marquis de Sade. You should google Hee Haw Jones for further advice on the topic, or run a topic search for Kick @$$ Ken (the leader for your namesake in the field of local boaters, on saludayakerz.com). In the mean time, stop in the shop and we'll be happy to get you set up, all nice and fancy... You'll at least look like a Pro-tege. also, a pro boater needs a sense of humor... cheers... One more thing, Ken, you should understand that being a Pro Kayaker is not all that it is cracked up to be, for most it remains a relatively dank existance. Hartley

Dear Tim & Hartley,
yes Is there any canoe trip on Sunday? my wife is mad at me and I need help.
justin
columbia, sc

Dear justin:
Yes, Get Your Gear On has Sunday river tours year round. Because of GYGO's new location it may be open seven days a week, which would make it easier for people to take a guided river tour or rent a canoe or kayak. The best thing to do is call in advance to book your river tour. Tours can fill up fast and booking will reserve your spot. Thanks, Tim.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
I saw you are Pyranha kayak dealers- can I order Pyranha merchandise with you; such as the hats or t-shirts? Thanks.
Katelyn
Columbia, SC

Dear Katelyn:
Hey Katelyn, the answer is yes Get Your Gear On can order all kinds of Pyranha stuff. I was just at the Pyranha warehouse today in Asheville picking up kayaks and material. Let GYGO know what we can do for you. Thanks, Tim.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Came in a couple of weeks ago and talked with you about a kayak for an oversized galuth such as myself, 6'10", 325lbs. I have decided to seek your advice on a canoe instead to transport me and my wife. She said she would feel safer in a canoe, especially if I move around. What you think? Thanks, Billy T
Billy T
Columbia SC

Dear Billy T:
The canoes Get Your Gear On uses, Esquif "Canyon", are rated to 1200 lbs in carrying capacity. If you would like to give one of these canoes a try, GYGO would be happy to set you up. The Canyon is considered a river touring canoe, so they turn well for a 16.5' canoe.

Dear Tim & Hartley,

Dear Sam:
Thanks Sam! Had a good time climbing at the local Columbia, SC crag with you and your Army buddys.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
We checking out you site, looking for deals on getting two white water kayaks. We do flatwater now, ( Savannah, Edisto, tec. ) but really want to get into white water. We need two, one for 180lbs, max and I would probably need the smallest size they make,(I weigh about 115 lbs.) If you come across some really good deals, please, email me. Thanks
Riverdog Adventures
North Augusta,SC

Dear Riverdog Adventures:
Your in luck! Get Your Gear On has a Perception Dancer XS (exra small) for $108.75. As for a Whitewater boat for a 180 lbs person, GYGO has several starting in the $150. range. Before you purchase, a boat test drive should be advised. There is a free lesson with the purchase too. Also, you can tag along with GYGO's river trips with your purchase.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Hey there, I was wondering if yall might be hiring staff for canoe/kayak trips this summer. Thanks a lot.
Trey
Columbia, SC

Dear Trey:
Hey Man! Yeah, we are planning on Guide Training March,20th and 21st...starting at 8:30 am, at the shop, and continuing the following morning. If you haven't been a guide with us before, then this training is required. If you have, then we strongly encourage you to attend as a refresher. Must be 16 years old, or older... This is simply because ya gotta be able to drive. We also want to encourage everyone to bring their own PFD, Throw Rope, Helmet and Water Bottle. (of course, we'll be happy to work with you to get ya outfitted, if there is something that ya need) We will also provide a "Delicious Bass" lunch! PLEASE, call the shop to sign up and for greater details. Thanks

Dear Tim & Hartley,
I want to be in my sit on top kayak for more than an hour before im ready to stop. Is there a seat pad I can buy that will allow me to be in my kayak (fishing) for about 4-5 hours?
Jason Mathis
Elgin, SC

Dear Jason Mathis:
Hey Jason, there is a high back sit-on-top kayak seat that was great for me for my 50 mile trip down the Congaree. It has a 15" back rest and foam seat. It retails for $59.00 and is worth it. Thanks for asking.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Dear Tim & Hartley, Are there any woman entering the race? Just curious...
GIRL PADDLER
ROCK HILL, SC

Dear GIRL PADDLER:
We apologize for the delay to your Millrace Massacre & IceMan Challange question. Yes there were female competitors in both events. One of which won a Queen of Carnage award. I hope you attended. This year, being the 10th year, was special because many pro-kayakers attended. The pro-kayakers didn't know the river's lines and the locals of course do, making it a close heat for the IceMan Challenge.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
The wife and I are planning a trip on the blue trail in the spring. Are there any guide books or maps we can buy from you to help us plan our trip? Also could we ship a food stash to you prior to flying out and pick up when we get there?
Chris
Fayetteville, Arkansas

Dear Chris:
Chris your in luck. Get Your Gear On has airial Congaree River and Wateree River Blue Trail maps from American Rivers. As for the food stash, make sure it's not perishable foods and it will be stored here at the shop until your arrival.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
If I decide to take a break in Dumbass during the Iceman, How do I look cool at he same time?
Team Swim
Mill Race, SC

Dear Team Swim:
The first thing to remember is that key to looking cool in Dumbass lies within the knowledge that there will be people there with ropes during the race. So, with that in mind, there are several tried and mostly true experiments for retrieving your own safety. Here are three: A. Relax, Smile, and make shapes...the alphabet or numberical configurations seemed to work for one friend who swam there a few seasons ago...He looked Cool! B. Hold your breath...I can say from first hand experience that if one inhales the drink, it doesn't help the Cool Factor. C. If stuck in Dumbass, but still in your boat, Blast, Blast, Blast...Whoop Woooo like the Saludaboyz while your doing it, and Wheel your way out a corner of that smile into the down stream flow! That Looks Cool! If those methods don't work, another racer will probably knock you out of the hole...or, look for a rope!

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Hey is this Hootenanny gonna be in the rain? I dig wet pig...but, I'm not driven for 2+ hours if it's not gonna happen.
Mike
Charlotte, NC

Dear Mike:
Yep, the show must go on! Get Your Gear On is setting up for a rainy night. GYGO will have fire barrels and a huge canopy for everyone to huddle under. Lots of hot food and chilled beer. With the rain, GYGO might have to stir up a warm concoction to warm the spirts. Don't forget a chair so you can rest your bones.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
What is the Airspeed Velocity of an Unladen Swallow?
Time Long Ago

Dear Time Long Ago:

Dear Tim & Hartley,
What is the best way to cure a toe fungus?
Sasquatch
Columbia, SC

Dear Sasquatch:
Your own urine I heard can or is the best medicine for the money. So the next time you have your foot in a bucket, piss on it. It 'll be warm at least.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
do you have any gear that will make me look cool, even though i never actually boat?
Ben
Columbia

Dear Ben:

Dear Tim & Hartley,
I here the new shop's up and going, congratulations. I just found your website, the Hootnanny sounds like it'll be a blast. Best wishes, and hope to see you all soon, if not at the LVM. Will we be able to access the store via the website (for some Holiday shopping), given that we're an hour and a half up the hill?

Dear Tim & Hartley,
Dear Tim & Harley- Are GPS units becoming obsolete with all the tricks that new cell phones offer, or is preferable to have a GPS handheld?
Mel
Looking for a location!

Dear Mel:
After some investigation, Tim has a simple answer. I'm talking hand held units here. If you think a complex trip off the main trail is in the forcast, then a GPS designed for the trail less traveled is what you want. If your predicted travel is taking the easy path to pont B, the phone GPS would be fine. Also, does the cell phone need a GPS pay plan from the phone company to work. The cost per month for the plan may be more expensive in the long run then buying a GPS only unit.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
What's a Hootenanny?
Downstream
Here

Dear Downstream:
A social event were people dance, sing and play musical instruments. The audience participates with the singing and the music by dancing , clapping in rythm, along with hoot'in and yip'in. It's a real good time! So don't forget a musical instrument of some sort when going to a hootenanny.

Dear Tim & Hartley,
is the green river hard?
go jolly
saluda nc

Dear go jolly:
depends what sections. The upper Green has two water slides to be noticed. Theres a keeper hole in between the to slides too, but Tims never had a problem with it. I'll play in it next time to see what happens. The Narrows is were whitewater gets technical with boofs and more boofs. If you don't have a gameface for class 4+ creeks then the Narrows may not be your gig. The Lower Green river is a peacful place with some easy whitewater. There are a couple of surf waves to play on too. If the inner-tube retal companys are open they may help you with shuttle for a fee.
